Amandine develops ‘flexible drawings’ from inner tubes – a material which contains a voyage – crafted with scissors to become portable lace drawings on the body. She writes about her work; Impregnated by travels I place my curiosity on the road. I grab the contact material between the road and the journey – the wheels. And I dig into them. I collect inner tubes from various vehicles and I turn them into lace, scissors in hand. I sculpt them into precious objects, minimalist interiors to put around the neck.

‘The snap hook is a token from my many travels and it makes me remember the importance of exploring the world. It has been with me through jungle, desert, snow and mountains. One copy was for the person with whom we had the dialogue with, and the other was exposed in different jewellery galleries in Copenhagen. ‘My mother reminds me a little too often of my seven year severity calling in Walt Disney's the Lion King, the last scene got me up on the living room table posing, and in partnership with the entire Lion Kingdom share a roar. One day my mother brought me this bronze necklace from the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde: a copy of a talisman the Vikings crafted after seeing lions for the first time running after their ships at the coast of Africa (named, “Løbedyret”) It is my only jewellery which when I wear it, brings me to a strange place between child and adult’. “The Miss aunts” were two sisters who lived together for many years in their parents' old apartment, because at the time it was difficult for the unmarried to get their own apartment. One of the aunts succeeds in getting an apartment, which both aunts then moved together in. “The Miss aunts” are Franzi's man's aunts and he visited them every year for Christmas with a flower, which was received on the doorstep with a simple THANKS. When one sister dies and the Christmas tradition continues till 2000 when the last aunt dies. Sonja and her boyfriend went on a trip to Istanbul. They arrived late in the evening and would eat at a nice restaurant, and what Sonja did not know was that her boyfriend had brought an engagement ring to propose to Sonja. Sonja thought that her boyfriend was a little stressed after a busy week at work because he was very hectic went they around in the city, but he actually tried to find a suitable place to propose. They were tired and went home to the hotel room, where Sonja’s boyfriend finally decided to go on his knees and propose to her. They celebrated it with the 2 last beers in the hotels mini bar. he Toollerybox and pendants on display Lisbeth Nordskov, Gothersgade 80, Copenhagen. The pendants in the Toollerybox is made in connection with our project Makers Move, a mobile jewellery workshop launched this summer in the streets of Copenhagen. We asked people on the street if they carry an object or a piece of jewellery that has a significant history or meaning connected to it. Then we made an imprint of the object or jewellery and cast it in pewter twice - creating two copies. One copy was for the person with whom we had the dialogue with, and the other was exposed in different jewellery galleries in Copenhagen. The pendants were displayed in Toolleryboxes in the galleries, inviting people to go and pick up their pieces and thereby building a bridge between the street and the gallery.

The Danish Arts Foundation Crafts and Design Committee have awarded a prize to the jewelry project Makers Move. Prize motivation: “In Makers Move, the two jewelers in an exemplary manner combine a number of interesting aspects of making jewelry, wearing jewelry and communicating through jewelry. The project is both very simple and very complex. It is fun and unpretentious, while at the same time it is both serious and ambitious. When the two jewelers on their quirky cargo bike set up their workshop at selected locations and extend an invitation to the public to engage in a dialogue, you clearly sense that Makers Move is the real thing − not just a publicity stunt, but a serious exchange of experiences between customer and artist. The two jewelers not only assume the role of anthropologists and facilitators of people’s stories about jewelry − they also have something at stake themselves, as they offer passers-by to make casts of their jewelry in a kind of “give and take” exchange. The jewelry is copied on the spot and the result is beautiful, embossed pewter coins or amulets, coarse but with character. One attraction is the fundamental fascination in watching skilled craftsmen work, but there is not much showing off in this open workshop. Instead, there is an attractive crackpot or DIY atmosphere, which feels inviting and inclusive and is therefore fully in line with the whole idea behind the project. Although the small workshop is primitive, everything has been thought out with an inspiring care and a lot of attention to detail in the design. Even in bad weather it is fully functional. And of course, the communication and media aspect is well thought out, for example in the form of the website www.makersmove.com. Quite simply, the idea behind Makers Move and the reality of the project are in perfect unison. The Committee for Crafts and Design is looking forward to seeing the two jewelers in their work clothes on their quirky cargo bike out and about in the city next time they have the chance.”

The conference was held at Sydney College of the Arts, the visual arts faculty of the University of Sydney. Sydney College of the Arts is located in historic sandstone buildings designed by James Barnet in the 1880’s. Surrounded by the parklands of Callan Park, the campus overlooks Sydney harbour at Iron Cove, Rozelle.

Coral: This was my mother's favourite stone and was used as an amulet as well a sign for her for love, strength and prosperity. She always wore coral necklaces for important occasions and wore this on my wedding day. I always carry it with me as it meant so much to her and I love the fact that it was against her skin and so it is against mine. She is with me all the time.

Exchange with Elna Lubbe. This brooch was crafted in wax and cast in silver, by using the lost wax technique. A colleague, Avril Dahl, made this beautiful brooch in memory of all the elephants that were laced with poison by poachers. 'Poachers lace the discarded elephant carcass with cheap poisons to kill vultures in mass. Why? Because vultures circling in the sky alert wildlife authorities to the location of poachers' activities'. Posted by Darcy Ogada of The Peregrine Fund in Explorers Journal on August 29, 2013. The authorities are then distracted and poachers continue poaching elsewhere. This really upset me and I received the brooch for Christmas.
