Since 2012, Makers Move has participated in various events, on several locations, in different parts of the world, sometimes upon invitation, and on other occasions on our own initiative. We have encountered people on the streets, at our mobile workshop, for a talk about jewellery and other portable objects.
We call the project ‘a medium of exchange’. In return for their personal stories, people receive a small pewter cast of their object or jewellery, made on the spot and mounted in a pendant. Up till now, the Makers Move archive holds 93 imprints – and counting. We have met obstacles on the way, unfriendly weather, flat tires, and a police search in front of the Louvre, etc. We have recorded stories with the beautiful mountains of Cape Town as a backdrop, in front of the Gothenburg Museum, during a Cultural summit meeting on Mors, in the “Golden Crafts Jubilee” in Dongyang, China, during the conference “‘Edgebordergaps”’ in Sydney, and on the streets of Copenhagen, where the project originally, and literally hit the road.
But most important are, off course the people we have met on the road. Without their participation, the project would have never gained the acknowledgement and the volume it did. We want to thank each one for adding their ‘personal precious’ to the journey.
